Byzantine fortress of Gynaikokastro

The main entrance to the fortress lies at the southeast side of the hill. A cobbled road led to the entrance, which had, to its right and left two nowadays ruined bastions. 

The northeastern gate is located at a steep point of the hill and served as the secondary entrance to the fortress. This was the gate leading to the citadel, and was accessible through steep steps carved into the rock.
