On Sunday, June 10, 2018, 11.00 – 14.00, within the framework of the established annual celebration of the Green Cultural Routes, the action entitled “Guided tour of the archaeological sites and monuments of Gynaikokastro” took place.
The action was addressed to families and started from the Center for Environmental Education, at the foot of the hill of Palaio Gynaikokastro, at 11.00.
It included information from representatives of the Kilkis Center for Environmental Education about the flora of the area, and then an interactive digital projection on the depiction of the landscape and vegetation in the painting of the Byzantine and post-Byzantine era.
This was followed by a tour by the archaeologists of Εphorate of Antiquities of Kilkis, in the Byzantine fortress of the area, and a short stop for rest and picnic in the shade of the plane trees, on the banks of the small river at the foot of the hill.
The action concluded with the guided tour of the participants in a nearby modern livestock farm.
The action was supported by the Environmental Education Center of Kilkis, in Paleo Gynaikokastro, and by the Cultural Association of Paleo Gynaikokastro.
